Do you know an Impressionist painter who was inspired by the landscapes of our Occitanie region? Quite simply, it was Pierre Prins (1838-1913), one of the finest masters of Impressionism. Painter, engraver, sculptor and excellent pastellist, the artist was a close friend of Édouard Manet, who encouraged him throughout his life in his artistic practice.
A recent thesis on this artist will enable the Musée des Beaux-arts de Gaillac to present a major retrospective exhibition of this sensitive and discreet painter, highlighting his work in connection with the Midi region.
