This magnificent village, built around 1222, has withstood numerous conflicts to preserve its beautiful heritage.

Situated on a rocky promontory, Castelnau-de-Montmiral also offers magnificent panoramic views over the Grésigne forest and Gaillac vineyards.

The particularity of this medieval village is that it is built on a huge rock overlooking the Vère river. The panorama is breathtaking. As you continue your walk, you can stop off at the village of Penne, which is well worth a visit! Joking aside, this charming medieval village overlooks the Aveyron Gorges, between Albigeois, Quercy and Rouergue.

Twenty kilometers from Gaillac, you can visit Albi, a UNESCO World Heritage Episcopal city with Gothic cathedrals and the Toulouse Lautrec Museum.
 
You’ll find the  https://www.albi-tourisme.fr/fr/le-musee-toulouse-lautrec-albi.html museum next to Sainte-Cécile cathedral, in the Palais de la Berbie. Discover this great painter, born in Albi in 1864, and marvel at the world of this atypical artist.
