Do you love fishing? Are you looking for a quiet, relaxing spot where the carp are just right?  Then look no further! The Carpodrome de l’Ile sauvage in Montans is the perfect pond for this type of pastime.

L’Ile sauvage is less than 10 minutes from Les Cottages du Tarn, whether you’re staying at the hamlet of Gabit in Peyrole or at Les Cottages du Tarn in Brens.

While carp enthusiasts titillate the line, family and friends can enjoy walks and hikes in our pleasant Occitan countryside, or relax on one of the terraces of the Gites des Cottages du Tarn, sipping a drink in an idyllic setting. The Ile sauvage carpodrome offers No-Kill fishing, whether with a long rod, a match rod, a feeder or a battery.

The aim of this practice is to catch a fish and then release it in the best possible conditions so that it can continue its life and reproduce. In addition to being a reasoned action, No Kill is also a state of mind. Fish are fragile, and even more so if they’re not in their natural environment.
To practice No Kill fishing, the angler must minimize the time the fish spends out of the water. The oxygen content in air is four times higher than in water. As a result, fish have difficulty withstanding this sharp increase, which can burn their most fragile organs. Their gills must therefore be kept moist, whatever the weather.

It’s also important to handle fish delicately. Their bodies are fragile and soft.  As a result, it’s very easy to damage the catch with a simple touch of the hand. Fish spend most of their time close to the horizontal. The construction of its body, the position of its organs and its blood supply have all evolved in this direction.  It is therefore preferable to avoid handling them vertically, as this position could rapidly impair the blood supply to their organs. The perfect position to hold your catch is with one hand under the head and the other under the tail, where the skeleton is strong. Don’t forget to wet your hands to preserve all the mucus present on the fish and ensure a minimum of protection. Once fished, the wet landing net is the best way to deposit the fish so as not to cause micro-wounds by placing it on the ground.
The practice of No Kill should enable you to release in the best possible conditions by replacing the treble hooks on your swimming fish with single hooks; this will prevent unhooking without damaging the fish’s mouth.
