Discover the Tarn in Autumn

You can discover the Tarn in any season. In fact, autumn is an excellent time to take a bucolic and gourmet break. From the vineyards of Gaillac to the fortified bastides, from Albi to Castres, it’s time to (re)discover this beautiful south-western department, with its many facets and attractions.
Where can you go for a walk in our little Tarnese Tuscany under an autumn coat ?
A visit to château de Saurs is a must, to discover its cellars and taste its organic nectars, with a magnificent view over its rolling vineyards, which have already donned their autumnal clothes, close to the color of Gaillac wines.
Autumn is a wonderful transitional season before the vegetation is stripped back for winter, just after the new vintages of a new harvest.
In the Tarn region, some very pretty bastides open their doors to you, starting with the village of Castelnau-de-Montmiral, perched high above the valley and crowned with the title of “most beautiful village in France”.
Let’s continue our autumn tour with the village of Puycelsi, whose 800-meter ramparts, towers and fortified gates have become tourist attractions in our region.
Now let’s take a stroll through Cordes-sur-Ciel, one of France’s favorite medieval villages.
How about continuing our visit to a delightful city of over 50,000 inhabitants? It’s clad in red brick, nicknamed the “pink mini-city” and is a Unesco World Heritage Site….
You’ve come to recognize Albi as a friendly town, far removed from the frenetic bustle of its big sister in Toulouse!
Here, you’ll discover the works of the talented local artist Toulouse-Lautrec, as well as the Cité Episcopale, the magnificent Sainte-Cécile cathedral and the charming alleyways lined with half-timbered houses.
We highly recommend you take the gentle Echappée Verte trail, part of the GR36, which winds 4 km between town and country along the banks of the Tarn.
To round off this escapade, we suggest a visit to the old town of Castres, with its gourmet specialty: Castraise nougatine, a sweet made from almond nougat, coated in a mixture of powdered sugar and egg whites.
This production is purely artisanal and of Castraise origin.
All these beautiful escapades are within easy reach of our Cottages du Tarn accommodation in Peyrole or Brens, where we’ll give you a warm welcome to our Tarn countryside.
You’ll enjoy a calm and soothing place to rest and let go of your hectic everyday life.
L’Art de Bien-Etre is a space for natural therapies, where you can enjoy massages, foot and palm reflexology, hypnosis, shamanic treatments, fasciathérapy, reiki, sophrologie and more, by appointment, every day…
Our entire team of therapists will be on hand to provide you with the quality care you deserve.
So, are you ready to discover this magnificent autumn season in Tarn ?
We look forward to welcoming you,
Cathy & Martial
